DEDICADO A MIS QUERIDAS COMPAÑERAS DE RUTA
TO MY LOVELY TRAVELLING COMPANIONS

Who doesn't love to travel? Not counting those afraid of heights, planes and/or any mean of transportation that could remind you of an accident from the movie Final Destination. So let's say that if you do not belong to any of the previously named groups of people, travelling is a pleasure that we are always gonna be willing to enjoy.

A few months ago I spend lots of time doing and undoing suitcases, carrier bags and all kind of container of personal objects do I wouldn't have to give a dime more to the airlines and bring home all my stuff (even though some of that stuff was trashed in bins in different places of the country visited). So I think I can say that if preparing luggage was an university carrer I'd be close to graduation.

When my trip was finishing I realized that advise someone told me about rolling clothing so it wouldn't wrinkle and occupied less space was true but the big question that still was unsolved was: Where the hell is David Copperfield when you need him? Only magic could make the shoes travel with me.

I had made the right guess getting a pair of rain boots for a great deal until the time of packing them arrived and then I realized that maybe that was the worst purchase of them all.

Appropriately, someone really smart (that I bet went through the same situation than me) had the great idea of designing rain boots that adjust to the lifestyle of a traveller. For a not-so-painful price of 120 dollars, the well-known brand Hunter released a line called Original Tour Boot that rolls in less time that what takes you to say Why didn't I buy slippers?

The line Egyptfunk of the well-known Maison Balenciaga has exploded in the world of Street Style, Bloggers and Fashion Socialités, turning the cities in big fish bowls in which a neoprene garnment turns them immediatly into scuba divers.

If we analize just the material this sweatshirts are made of, the first we think is how hard it is to make it into a piece that everydoy would wanna wear. The wide shoulders make your body even wider, the semi stiffness of the fabric create air bags that biuld a silhouette that don't exist and I bet that they are not comfortable at all but Balenciaga did it once more and they created a piece with all the worst qualities that you can think of and  turned it into an object of desire of many.

Never say never. That trend that you hated so much could evolve into your next favourite. Is stop having prejudices in?

Today I was returning home along with the heat wave and the cloudy sky and a superior force made me go in a beauty shop to ask for a product that I wasn't even sure that it existed. I didn't even formed in line because I just wanted to ask if that product that I once saw in a movie existed and I obviously was waiting for a negative answer.

Luckily, after asking the sales woman for "a spray to dry nails faster" she said yes. This would be the part where she tells me the painful price and with a nice 'Thanks you, I'll think about it' I'd say goodbye. But no. For only AR$17,90 (Approx. U$S3.50), this insta dryer came home with me.

How many times did it happened to you that you spent a good amount of time getting your nails perfectly done and ten minutes after finishing it you'd spoiled them by accidentally rubbing them against anything at home? This spray is not miraculous and it's not gonna make you able to put on tight jeans after diung your nails without ruinning them but it will accelerate the drying process a lot, leaving them dry as if they'd be after 2 hours of natural drying. And let's not forget about how usefull it is for nail art when you apply it between the different artsy layers. Great purchase with a happy result. Totally worth it!

I'm not to fond of writing reviews for shows but I can't not comment a few things about the show that Gaga gave on the stadium of River Plate in Buenos Aires last night. Not only it was a marvelous show choreographically speaking and in terms of scenery and costumes, but it also featured a very special Lady Gaga that surprised me.

I'm pretty skeptical about foreign artist coming to our country and repeating in a poor spanish the following words: 'Hola, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Los Amo, Gracias', in any order and repeating them many times during the show. But last night, Stefani sent me home with a different thought about the concert. Yes, she did spent the whole show repeating Argentina (too many times, maybe) but she looked so focused on the audience and even kinda moved in the more quiet part of the show that it made me realize that it wasn't that typicall concert of any artist that you can watch in a DVD and it is basically song after song, pretty much like it was several videos played one after the other.

Gaga started the show being kinda cold toward the audience during the first six or seven song which featured a huge display of dresses and wigs but then she started to get more involved with the crowd, talking to them, laughing, making jokes and showing her bum without giving a hang. As a Show Woman she is a big 10. And discovering her sweet side was something that I never thought I'd say. If you have the possibility to attend her show, don't doubt it, it's worth every dime.

¿The hightlight of the show? Her moment to calm down where she sits on the edge of the stage and receives all the presents that people throw at her. A lucky girl had made her an Argentinian football (soccer) t-shirt with the number 10 in the back and the name Princess High. She happily looked at her and asked who made it for her, put it on and made the girl go up to the stage with her, along with two other people from the Monster Pit. The best part was when somebody threw at her a packet that she ripped off asking if it was coffee to discover that it wasn't. She opened the pack, smelled it and asked if she could smoke that. It was Yerba Mate, a local green infusion. She laughed and then said that you could smoke tea if you wanted, too.

But what I really want to highlight it isn't what I already wrote, although it kinda is. Waiting in the line to get in, someone told me how the Monster Pit worked and what a great way to give back to the true fans was. Every person that had a Regular ticket and started to get in line at 8am in the morning of the day of the show and arrived wearing a signature Gaga outfit or any similar costume had the chance to get picked by the organizers of the concert to enter the Monster Pit and meet her before the concert in a very personal encounter. A hundred lucky people had the chance to do that.

I also don't want to forget about a little detail that may be in the script to satisfy the audience but it felt so nice hearing it directly from her mouth and it was that she thanked everybody that bought the ticket because she claimed to have known how expensive tickets were and how hard can it be to buy them. It may be demagogy or not but it is nice to think that for artists it is not only about making money and run away to their hometowns but it is also about doing what they love and make thousans have fun with their performance, and of course that last night, Lady Gaga proved and asured that she has her heart set on what she does.

O no.

What defines the thin line between ridicule and fashion in its pure state? Noting more simple than geography.

We live receiving alerts and influences from the newest trend direct from the Catwalk (or even from what happens outside them) and we are dying to put them on right now. Or not.

I hate trainers, but that's a personal thing that I'll explain later on a post that will probably be called 'Irene & Me, and my other self who hates trainers'. Not only I've never imagined the words trainers and trend in the same time line, but I also always thought that eight-ish trend was never coming back because the human kind is wise and learns from its mistakes. Or not.

It appears to be that the Mayan apocalypse it is actually coming because dressing half sporty, half dressy is the latest trend. In every color and style, matching them with fancy skirts, pants, dresses or even jumpsuits we can be either a fashionable trend carrier or an old lady coming back from the market.

It's not the same living in Paris Milan or even not so recognized fashionabisticly speaking like Copenhaguen and Stockholm, than living in a busy or not neighbourhood in Argentina. We gotta be realistic and know that not every trend is applicable to our lifestyle.

You can try to change the stereotypes but is this country ready for fancy events with women wearing trainers?

Summer has begun for us in the southern hemisphere. Suddenly the heat and the humidity arrived, and along with them, besides from the reminder that clothes are gonna start to get smaller and our bodies should be prepared for that, we welcome what I like to call 'deplorable status'.

Personally, I suffer a lot during the summer because the high temperatures make me fill kinda dizzy and I feel like Boneless Chicken (cousin of Cow & Chicken, the old cartoon). That's why when I start to feel the heat any groomed state of my look achieved during the morning goes to hell.

Sadly, we don't live in a Disney story or in the pages of Vogue and when the first heat waves arrive, the image that we have when we leave our homes in the morning starts to slowly deteriorate during the day, with the help of the rutine and the best friend of fashion: the heat. Being cold makes you add more layers to your outfit and that's even a fun thing to do! But melting down because of the heat doesn't have an easy solution, not even walking down the streets in underwear.

Suffering. That's the word. Because if you live your home at 7am with your hair down neatly, by 10am you're gonna become a lion look alike and let's not start talking about how you are gonna look by noon. Suffering because it makes us use the worst yet confortable updo of them all: The unicorn bun.

In magazines and editorials models walk in long dresses, long loose hair and full of accesories, maybe even flowers crowns. Bullshit. Nobody stand 35°C (95°F) with their hair down without becoming a human soup. It's time to face the sad (and super warm) reality.

How are we suppose to keep surviving summer and not fashionisticably (Please, someone add it up to the dictionary) die in the attempt? Can we be 'breezy' and look nice at the same time? Here are some ideas to have in mind, speccialy for our heads.

If I would have walked the streets with a jacket over my shoulders a few years ago, or even only a few months, the first comment that I'd have received would be that I look like a granny. Yes, al older lady with a jacket on her shoulders. Probably the same would have occured to me if I saw someone else wearing it.

But lately, Street Style photographers are not getting enough of capturing women carrying this new trend. Of every 10 photos that I checked in some websites, at least 6 were of people wearing their outerwear in this (not so) new way.

obviusly, not every fabric goes along with this trend. For example, a denim jacket would have a hard linen and wouldn't be flexible enough to stay in the same place despite of the movements of the shoulders while we walk. Altough I think every jacket must be hard to wear over the shoulders without falling at least once.

A trend a little bit too soon for our summer season, but in fashion it is never early enough to hunt for new ideas.
