I have a personal issue with knitts. I think we can still be in the same room without fighting but it's so hard for us to get along. Maybe it's because I have the stigma of grand daughter of knitters, whom since birth have made stuff with wool and fleece in so many different shapes: pullovers, scarves, mitons, gloves, hats, socks, leggings, blouses and so on... (I even have a case for the hot water bag!!!)

Let's say that mi grandmas don't know much about what's in and what is not, not even whats more flattering for a person of my age so they always knitted me pieces that are now stacked in a corner of my closet and I feel kind of guilty of throwing away. I think that's the origin of my issue with buying any kind of knitted clothing: I believe I link it to those pieces and I can't avoid feeling rejection. Besides, let's say that in Argentina we don't have a big variety of this kind of clothing to chose from something decent.

Anyway, I believe I've found the cure to my suffering (or at least solve it temporarily). De las Bolivianas is an Argentinian brand that produces different kind of lovely knits! It's one of the few brands in this category that makes pieces for a fashionista younger crowd.

Life is a constant search. Looking, listening, touching, talking, mourning, laughing, smiling, discovering... All is part of the exploratory nature of man (and I speak of man in his general way even though I find it unfair to use that word), part of his evolutionary instinct that is always looking to grow, mature and incorporate new things to its existence.

Life is a constant search ... Of perfection. Don't go crazy, this post is not about any kind of disorder or obsession, I'll explain more in order to understand why.

Summer is around the corner and to match the heat waves and tanned birthday suits, there's nothing better than showing a little bit more of skin, but in a subtle, classy way. Clear items are big stars for this season and even though plastic materials are not so convenient to wear if you are melting down (I'm already seeing blisters everywhere), I believe we can give them a chance to let them stand out from the rest of our closet.

Personally, I like this trend but we gotta admit that the situation on the streets isn't that good to be showing what's in your purse, but wearing it for an evening party or special event is not that terrible. If it's clear and a clutch, even better!

It all started when I was watching a brief recap of al old Buenos Aires Fashion Week on Cosmopolitan TV. I looked and paid attention to all the designers shown but when that half an hour ended I started wondering: Which are the characteristics of Argentinian design?

Obviusly, we have to keep in mind the strong influence from Europe in all Latin fashion but I believe that if we stop to think about simple definitions of the style from each country, any of us could easily list them. Mexico has the big influence of aztec shapes and colors, Brasil vibrates with bright colors and shapes influenced by the carnival, Perú has knits and fabrics made of lots of wool mixed with colorful Inca patterns... And we could keep going on and on with more details, but my question is simple. Does Argentina have an unique style that could be described and make it stand out from runways from all over the world just like the cultures oreviously named?

// Let's see the examples. Starting with some photos from the recently renamed Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Mexico and from several shows of Mexican designers.
(Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Manhes Massun, Lydia Lavin, Armando Mafud,
Mehron México DF, Malinali and Paulina Fosado, Armando Mafud, David Salomon)

// Here we have some images from Lima Fashion Week and several designers and editorials dedicated to Peruvian fashion.
(Ani Alvarez Calderón, Naty Munoz, Ani Alvarez Calderón, Nieli Vallin,
Vogue Korea Jul 2012, Vogue México Aug 2011, Vogue Korea Jul 2012, Vogue UK Mar 2008)

// And the last example from Sao Paulo Fashion Week's designers, clear proof of Brasil's fashion culture.

(Helen Rödel, Neón, Vide Bula, Colcci,
Ronaldo Fraga, Vide Bula, Triton, André Lima)

Now, the big question. Is there an 'Argentinian style'? How does the rest of the world see us in terms of originary fashion?

A really big, all over the place, overloaded pair of shoes.

Natsumi Zama is a womenswear designer based in London, UK but currently temporarily living in Japan. Natsumi studied fashion design at Bunka in Japan and also graduated with BA (Hons) FDT Womenswear from London College of Fashion in 2009. She's also keen on illustration and a different variety of colaboration with other artists but her thing is definetly fashion. Her designs are inspired by traditional Japanese clothing, and her most recent work entitled “Two to Three" 'started from exploring how a material can be transformed from a two dimensional form to a three dimensional object. As the Japanese traditional clothes (kimono), even a flat piece of cloth can be three-dimensional to fit a human body when it’s worn'.

I think the results from adding a piece of cloth to a garment are amazing and it makes you thinks 'How come I didn't think of this before?'.

Yesterday I was a little bit bored (and without feeling like doing assigments for Uni) so I decided to do my nails and I took some photos to make a tutorial. It's so much easier than it looks and looks super fun. I used pastels and a neon shade to brighten it up and start to bring the summer vibes to me.

Calaveras, ¿si o no?

Skulls have always had a recurring role in fashion. They come and go but every now and then they come back and bigger than before. From studs to heels, soles, jewelry and nail art: This time, skulls are practically everywhere, even in door handles.

McQueen was the genius mind behind the big launch of skulls in high fashion, but today lots of brans have taken that resource and applied it in their collections. Skulls, ¿yay or nay?

The Bata Show Museum, located in Toronto, Canada, collects, researches, preserves, and exhibits footwear from around the world. It offers four exhibitions, three of which are time-limited, as well as lectures and events. The collection contains over 10 000 items from throughout history, as well as the present, and is the biggest and perhaps the only museum in North America dedicated solely to the history of footwear.

Starting with Elton John's monogrammed silver platform boots, going through Roger Vivier antiques, and ending with limited edition footwear from well-known designers, I think that's the place I want to be burried in. What is more breath taking for a woman than a whole building filled with shoes? This place is like church for any of us, fashion lovers, right?

Finally, I've finished with this shirt! It took me a lot to get all the hems and details right but what took me the longest what that hand made embelished collar. Yes, I did it one by one! I tried glueing them first, but they turned up getting lost so I decided to take my time and do it manually.  I'm so happy with the result, all the hard work of sewing a chiffon shirt paid off and now I have this lovely coral shirt! Yey for me!

Today we are doing some time-traveling back to 1969, when photographer Arthur Schatz walked around different American High Schools and captured the trends of that moment. Prints, colourful thighs, floppy hats, maxi dresses and many more can be found in those days pictures as well as nowadays fashion stores. Fashion is a big cycle that comes and goes, but it fascinating to actually see how a trend that we think is super modern was previously wore tons of years before. This teaches you a lesson: Don't throw away anything! You may wanna wear in a few years and gonna regret giving it away!

I've been away for too long! I promise myself I'm never gonna spend so many days without posting something. I've been crazy occupied and didn't had the chance of shooting my presents, which are oh-so-lovely.

My family already knows myself and the fact that I am really hard to find a gift for so they usually give me money so I can buy whatever pleases me. That was the case of my unclaes and aunts, grandpas and mom and dad. The material presents that I got are so much more worthy because of the effort that my friends took to find something for me that any actual cost. I am so grateful for the friends that surround me! Anyway, here's the list:
